Our vitamin D3 is produced using 100% plant-based ingredients. It contains purely vegan raw materials (lichen) and plant fats, which are irradiated with a very strong UV light source in microreactors through a photochemical reaction,
thereby enriched with vitamin D3. In a separate extraction process, the vitamin D3 is then separated from the fat.

Vitamin D has a significant influence on calcium metabolism. It also plays a special role among vitamins:
in its most important form, cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), it can be produced by the human body itself. For this,
the body needs UVB light exposure (sunlight), which is why vitamin D is also known as the "sunshine vitamin." With frequent sun exposure, the required
supply can be ensured without taking a vitamin D supplement. However, during the winter months and with frequent time spent indoors, our body cannot synthesize sufficient amounts of vitamin D. Only about 5-20% of our total vitamin D requirement is met through food. Therefore, a vitamin D deficiency is not uncommon.

Vitamin K, like vitamins A, D, and E, is a fat-soluble vitamin.

To increase vitamin absorption, it is therefore recommended to consume healthy fats and oils at the same time. Vitamin K2 is primarily a factor in maintaining normal bones and normal blood clotting. However, not every source of vitamin K2 is absorbed equally well. To increase the bioavailability and thus the absorption of our vitamin K2 source, the Vitabay research team uses the natural K2 source from the Japanese food natto.
