Special tip: Eyelid margin care2
Consistent eyelid margin hygiene, i.e. cleaning and caring for the eyelid margins, can relieve the symptoms of “dry eye” and have a positive effect. Eyelid margin hygiene, depending on your ophthalmologist’s instructions, includes:

Application of warm compresses2
If possible, heat water to approx. 40 degrees Celsius twice a day (morning and evening). Dip a clean cloth or cotton pad in the warm water and place it on your closed eyelids for 5 minutes. Make sure to use new pads or a clean cloth each time. To prevent the transmission of bacteria, the wipes or pads should also never be used with other people. The warm compresses serve to liquefy the hardened oil in the eyelid glands. If they cool down during treatment, the compresses can simply be reheated.

Massaging the eyelids2
After applying the warm compresses, gently massage the eyelids towards the eyelid margin with clean fingers or cotton swabs. On the upper eyelid, massage from top to bottom, and on the lower eyelid from bottom to top.

Cleaning the eyelid margins2
Carefully clean the eyelid margin with moist compresses or cotton swabs. Please do not use soap or shampoo.
