SILOMAT Cough Suppressant Dextromethorphan Intensive 12 tablets
- This medicine is used for the symptomatic treatment of dry coughs.
- A tickly cough is a dry cough in which no mucus is coughed up (unproductive cough).
- The hard capsules are swallowed whole with sufficient liquid (e.g. a glass of water).
- Always take this medicine exactly as described or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- Do not take more or for longer than recommended.
- Cases of dextromethorphan abuse have been reported, including cases in children and adolescents.
- If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The recommended dose is:

Young people over 12 years of age and adults
- Single dose: 1 capsule every 6 hours (corresponding to 22 mg dextromethorphan every 6 hours)
- Total daily dose: 4 capsules (corresponding to 88 mg dextromethorphan)
- This medicine should not be taken by children under 12 years of age.

Duration of application
- Do not take this medication for longer than 3-5 days without consulting a doctor.
- Even when prescribed by a doctor, the medication should not be taken for longer than two to three weeks.
- Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you feel that the effect is too strong or too weak.

If you have taken a larger amount than you should
- If you take more of the medicine than you should, you may experience the following symptoms: nausea and vomiting, involuntary muscle contractions, restlessness, confusion, drowsiness, impaired consciousness, involuntary and rapid eye movements, disturbances of heart function (rapid heartbeat), coordination disorders, psychoses with visual hallucinations and over-excitability.
- Other symptoms in case of a massive overdose may include: coma, severe breathing problems, and seizures.
- Contact your doctor or hospital immediately if you experience any of the above symptoms.
- If you suspect you have taken too high a dose, notify a doctor immediately.
- Cases of fatal poisoning have occurred when dextromethorphan and other drugs were overdosed simultaneously.
- In some cases, intensive care monitoring with symptom-based therapy may be necessary. Naloxone can be used as an antagonist.

If you forgot to take it
- Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose. Continue taking the medication according to the dosage instructions.
