Oxalin Baby Nasal Gel 10g

Indications:

Swelling of the mucous membranes occurring in: acute rhinitis; vasomotor rhinitis; allergic rhinitis; sinusitis; eustachian tube inflammation; otitis media.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to oxymetazoline hydrochloride or any of the excipients. Dry rhinitis.

Action

: Sympathomimetic. Oxymetazoline applied topically to the nasal mucosa causes vasoconstriction, inhibition of hypersecretion, and reduction of swelling of the inflamed nasal mucosa, allowing the patient to breathe freely through the nose. Reducing nasal congestion leads to the opening and dilation of the paranasal sinuses, facilitating secretion drainage. In addition, oxymetazoline has been shown to have antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory effects. Following intranasal administration of oxymetazoline at doses higher than recommended, the amount of absorbed drug may have a systemic effect on the circulatory system and, in rare cases, cause central nervous system effects. The half-life after intranasal administration in humans is 35 hours. 2.1% of the dose is excreted in the urine, and approximately 1.1% in the feces. There are no data on the distribution of oxymetazoline in humans. The effect of oxymetazoline begins within minutes of nasal administration and lasts for up to 12 hours.

Adverse effects

: Common: burning at the application site, dryness of the nasal mucosa, sneezing. Uncommon: palpitations, tachycardia, increased blood pressure. Rare: worsening nasal swelling (occurs after the drug effect wears off, as a symptom of reactive hyperemia), restlessness, insomnia, headache, fatigue. Prolonged or frequent use of the drug, especially in doses higher than recommended, may lead to drug-induced rhinitis (rhinitis medicamentosa). This effect may occur after 5-7 days of treatment and, with continued use, lead to irreversible damage to the nasal mucosa and dry rhinitis. Intranasal

use

. Children over 1-6 years of age: 1 dose in each nostril 2-3 times daily; do not use more often than 3 times daily. Do not use the drug for longer than 3-5 days. For hygiene reasons, each pack should be used by only one patient.
