Melolin consists of a wound pad made of cotton and acrylic fibers with high absorbency and a hydrophobic cover layer, which is bonded to a very thin perforated polyester film on one side using a heating process. The bandage is placed on the wound with the foil side. The low-adhesion, perforated film allows the exudate to flow off quickly and reduces trauma to the healing tissue when the dressing is changed.
