LIVER COMPLEX capsules 60 pieces

The liver is the central metabolic organ in the body and fulfils a number of important tasks. It plays a key role in the metabolism of sugar, proteins, amino acids, fatty acids and in the production of energy. It keeps the blood sugar level constant and regulates the balance of many other important substances.

Liver Complex is made up of a combination of various plant extracts such as turmeric, dandelion and artichoke, which are characterized by a broad spectrum of effects.

The liver consists of two large lobes and is located in the body below the diaphragm in the right upper abdomen. It is the largest metabolic organ in the human body. The liver consists of a large number of tiny lobules, approximately one to two millimeters in size, which form functional units and are composed of liver cells. The functions of the liver play an extremely important role in the human body. The liver absorbs all substances that are supplied to it via the blood of the portal vein and the hepatic artery. It processes and/or stores these in order to then release them into the bloodstream and the bile duct system. This property makes the liver the largest gland in the human body.

The liver is involved in the metabolism of glucose (sugar), stores glucose in the form of glycogen and releases it again when needed. In this way, it helps to keep blood sugar levels as constant as possible. The liver can extract energy from blood fats and/or convert them into storage fat. It serves as an energy reserve in times of hunger and can then release stored substances in a targeted manner. Vitamins, trace elements and amino acids are also metabolized and stored in the liver. If the supply of micronutrients is temporarily poor, the need can be met by emptying the stores. The liver forms important plasma proteins (e.g. clotting factors) and starting products for the formation of sex hormones. The liver's excretory product is bile. It contains salts of bile acids, which serve to emulsify fats in the intestine. This is the only way fats from food can be "digested" and absorbed into the body.

The liver can detoxify substances that are foreign to the body (such as alcohol, chemicals, pesticides, environmental toxins, heavy metals and medications) that are produced in the body during metabolic processes through what is known as biotransformation. More than 50 enzymes are involved in the degradation and excretion processes of harmful substances. During the detoxification process, free radicals and aggressive oxygen compounds are produced in increased quantities. These too are converted into less harmful substances and broken down with the help of various substances, including antioxidants. Alcohol is one of the substances that place a great strain on the liver. Small amounts of intake can usually be broken down without problems. However, with regular, increased alcohol consumption, the liver becomes increasingly damaged. It is assumed that around 30 to 50 percent of all liver diseases are caused by alcohol abuse.

The metabolic processes in the liver require a lot of oxygen and generate heat. Unlike other organs, the liver adapts to an increased or reduced oxygen requirement by changing the oxygen uptake from the blood and not by changing the amount of blood flow. The liver's diverse functions are performed by all liver cells, and their capacity to perform these tasks is extraordinarily large. Since the liver has a special ability to regenerate, it can cope with acute and chronic damage relatively well.

Curcuma , often called turmeric, is an important spice plant and is known as the main ingredient in curry powder. It is not only excellent for seasoning dishes, but is also known as a versatile medicinal plant. In Central Europe,

dandelions are a common wild herb that grows in meadows, along roadsides, and in gardens. The most important active ingredients in dandelions are bitter substances and antioxidants (phenols). In folk medicine, dandelions were used for stomach and liver complaints as early as the 16th century. Bitter melon is a tropical plant species from the gourd family. The vegetables of the bitter melon have been a popular food and medicinal product for centuries in many countries, particularly in Asia. Pregnant women are advised not to use them, as some of the ingredients can have a harmful effect on the fetus.

Artichokes mainly come from Europe. The flower heads harvested before they bloom are commonly used as vegetables. The fleshy receptacle (“artichoke heart”) in particular is considered a special delicacy. In herbal medicine, the fresh or dried, whole or cut leaves of the artichoke are used. Bioperine® is an extract from black pepper with the active ingredient piperine, which has a positive effect on the bioavailability of many nutrients.
