Pack size:10 x 1 mlDosage form:Ampoules

ISCUCIN abietis uses:

Iscucin is a brand name for anthroposophic mistletoe preparations, specifically Viscum album, used in complementary cancer therapy. It is primarily administered via subcutaneous injection to enhance the immune system and potentially reduce side effects of conventional cancer treatments. Iscucin, along with other mistletoe preparations like Iscador and Helixor, is often used in European countries as a complementary therapy for cancer patients.
Key Uses:
Adjuvant Cancer Therapy:
Iscucin is used alongside conventional cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation to potentially improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
Immunomodulation:
It is believed to stimulate the immune system, potentially helping the body fight cancer cells.
Reducing Side Effects:
Some studies suggest Iscucin may help reduce the side effects associated with conventional cancer treatments, such as fatigue and nausea.
Improved Quality of Life:
Patients using Iscucin may experience improvements in their overall well-being and quality of life, particularly in cases of advanced or terminal cancer.
Important Considerations:
Subcutaneous Injection:
Iscucin is most commonly administered through subcutaneous injections, meaning it is injected under the skin.
Not a Cure:
It's important to understand that Iscucin is not a standalone cure for cancer. It's used as a complementary therapy alongside other treatments.
Off-label Use:
While Iscucin is widely used in Europe, its use, particularly intravenously, is often considered "off-label," meaning it's not yet fully approved for all applications.
Individual Responses:
Like all treatments, individual responses to Iscucin can vary. Some patients may experience benefits, while others may not.
In summary, Iscucin, a mistletoe extract, is primarily used as a complementary therapy in cancer treatment to potentially boost the immune system, improve quality of life, and reduce side effects of conventional treatments, with subcutaneous injection being the most common method of administration.

What should you bear in mind during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
The effects of the drug on pregnancy, the development of the unborn child, childbirth, and the development of the child after birth, especially the development of blood cell formation and the immune system in the unborn child/infant, have not been studied. The potential risk to humans is therefore unknown. Caution is advised when used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.

Ability to drive and operate machinery:
There is no experience with regard to impairment of the ability to drive and operate machinery.

Interactions with other medicinal products:
There are no studies on interactions with other immunomodulating substances (e.g. thymus extracts). When using such preparations concurrently, careful dosing and monitoring of appropriate immune parameters is recommended.

Dosage and method of administration:
The dosage is always individualized according to the doctor's instructions.

Duration of administration:
The treating physician decides on the duration of administration. In principle, there is no limit to the duration of administration. It is determined by the doctor and depends on the respective risk of relapse and the individual condition and findings of the patient. It should be several years, with breaks of increasing length generally being taken.

Mistakes in use:
Caution is expressly emphasized regarding the need to increase the dosage. An excessive increase in the dosage, particularly when skipping a dilution level in the lower strengths (e.g., from strength C to strength E), can lead to allergic-like reactions that require emergency measures.

Side effects:
What side effects can occur when using Iscucin Abietis?
Like all medications, Iscucin Abietis can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them. A slight increase in body temperature and local inflammatory reactions at the subcutaneous injection site almost always occur at the beginning of treatment and are signs of the patient's reaction. Temporary slight swelling of regional lymph nodes is also harmless. In cases of fever above 38°C (possibly with fatigue, chills, general malaise, headache, and brief dizziness) or in cases of larger local reactions exceeding 5 cm in diameter, the next injection should not be given until these symptoms have subsided and in a reduced strength or dose. The fever induced by Iscucin injection should not be suppressed with antipyretic medications. If fever persists for more than three days, an infectious process or tumor fever should be considered. Excessive local reactions can be avoided by using a lower strength of the preparation or a lower dose. In this case, the use of 0.1–0.5 ml of the used strength using a graduated 1 ml syringe is recommended. Localized or systemic allergic or allergoid reactions may occur (usually in the form of generalized itching, urticaria, or rash, occasionally with Quincke's edema, chills, shortness of breath, and bronchospasticity, occasionally with shock or as erythema multiforme), which require discontinuation of the drug and initiation of medical treatment. Activation of pre-existing inflammation and inflammatory irritation of superficial veins in the injection area are possible. Here, too, a temporary break in therapy is required until the inflammatory reaction subsides. Chronic granulomatous inflammation (erythema nodosum) and autoimmune diseases (dermatomyositis) have been reported during mistletoe therapy. Symptoms of increased intracranial pressure in brain tumors/metastases have also been reported during mistletoe therapy.
