HYLO-GEL eye drops

When should you use Hylo Gel?
Hylo Gel contains the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the eye and other parts of the body. It has the special physical property of forming an even, stable, and particularly long-lasting moisture film on the surface of the eye without being quickly rinsed away. This so-called bioadhesive property nourishes the cornea and conjunctiva and, together with natural tears, provides ideal lubrication for blinking. Hylo Gel contains a particularly high level of hyaluronic acid and is therefore highly viscous. This provides the eye with a particularly intensive and lasting supply of a stable moisture film. Persistent or severe discomfort is alleviated, and the eye is permanently protected from irritation. Surgical procedures on the eye or following eye injuries can reduce the body's natural tear secretion. The regeneration of the eye's superficial tissues requires constant, sufficient moisturizing. By using Hylo Gel, the cornea and conjunctiva are supplied with long-lasting moisture, allowing the physiological healing processes to proceed optimally. Because it is preservative-free, Hylo Gel is generally well tolerated. Hylo Gel is also phosphate-free, preventing potential complications from the formation of deposits in the cornea.

How do you use Hylo Gel?
Only use Hylo Gel if the carton seal was intact before first use. Remove the cap before each use. To do this, hold the cap just above the bottle and, with your other hand, pull the bottle away from the cap in a twisting motion. Before using Hylo Gel for the first time, please hold the bottle with the dropper tip pointing vertically downwards and press down on the bottom of the bottle until the first drop emerges from the tip. The bottle is then ready for subsequent applications. Hold the bottle with the dropper tip pointing downwards by placing your thumb on the shoulder of the bottle and the other fingers on the bottom of the bottle. Support the hand holding the Comod bottle on your free hand as shown. Tilt your head back slightly, use your free hand to gently pull the lower eyelid away from your eye, and press quickly and firmly on the center of the bottom of the bottle. This activates the mechanism for dispensing a drop. Thanks to the special valve technology of the Comod system, the size and speed of the drop is always the same, even when very strong pressure is applied to the bottom of the bottle. Close your eyes slowly to allow the liquid to spread evenly over the surface of the eye. Immediately after use, carefully close the cap on the dropper tip. Please ensure that the dropper tip is dry. When dropping, avoid contact of the dropper tip with your eye or facial skin. One bottle contains 10 ml of solution, which corresponds to approximately 300 drops. For manufacturing reasons, a small amount of liquid always remains in the bottle. There is no limit to the length of time Hylo Gel can be used. The same person should always be treated with the contents of one bottle of Hylo Gel.

What other instructions for use should be observed?
If you are also taking other medications with eye drops, leave an interval of at least 30 minutes between applications. Hylo Gel should then always be administered last. Eye ointments should always be applied to the conjunctival sac after Hylo Gel. Because it is preservative-free, Hylo Gel is particularly well tolerated even when used for long periods. In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions (e.g. burning, watering) have been reported; these immediately subside after discontinuing Hylo Gel. Due to the viscosity of the preparation, temporary blurred vision is possible immediately after using Hylo Gel. Hylo Gel relieves the symptoms of severe or chronic dryness of the eyes. If your ophthalmologist allows you to wear contact lenses despite this condition, Hylo Gel can be used while wearing contact lenses. However, in these cases, streaking may occur on the contact lenses, which generally disappears after a few blinks. We recommend waiting approximately 30 minutes after inserting contact lenses before applying the eye drops to avoid possible intolerance reactions due to interactions between contact lens care products and Hylo Gel. Based on available evidence, Hylo Gel can also be used on children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women.

How often and for how long should you use Hylo Gel?
Hylo Gel should be dosed individually according to your condition and/or the recommendation of your ophthalmologist. As a general rule, apply one drop of Hylo Gel into the conjunctival sac of each eye three times a day. If symptoms are more severe, Hylo Gel can be applied more often during the day. If you use Hylo Gel more frequently (e.g., more than 10 times a day), have your eyes examined by your ophthalmologist. Hylo Gel is suitable for long-term use, but as with all illnesses, you should consult an ophthalmologist if symptoms persist for a long time.

When should you not use Hylo Gel?
Hylo Gel should not be used if you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.

What instructions should be observed for storing Hylo Gel?
Do not store above 25°C. Once opened, Hylo Gel can be used for 6 months. Do not use after the expiration date. Keep out of the reach of children.
