Hawthorn (Crataegus) belongs to the rose family (Rosaceae). Its constituents include oligomeric procyanidins and flavonoids, which are found primarily in the flowers. The main components are hyperoside and rutin; glycosylflavones are also present. Hawthorn has diverse effects on the heart and blood vessels.
