- On the advice of your doctor, you may need to take the medicine for longer than 2 weeks if you suffer from persistent constipation or a condition that causes constipation (such as Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis), or if you regularly take other constipating medications. In these cases, your doctor may advise you to reduce the dose to one sachet once or twice a day.
