  • Sodium cromoglicate belongs to a group of antiallergic drugs and is used to prevent and treat allergic reactions in the eye caused by hay fever (seasonal allergic conjunctivitis) or by an allergy to substances such as house dust mites or pet hair (perennial allergic conjunctivitis). These allergies can occur:
    • At any time of year and is called "perennial allergic conjunctivitis"
    • Caused by different pollens at different times of the year, this is called "seasonal allergic conjunctivitis" or hay fever.
  • Sodium cromoglicate must not be used

  • Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Adults and children over 6 years: One to two drops in each eye 4 times daily, or as directed by your doctor.
  • If your symptoms worsen or do not improve, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

  • If you use more sodium cromoglicate than you should
    • Contact your doctor if you use the eye drops more often than the recommended dose or continuously for more than three months.

  • If you forget to use sodium cromoglicate
    • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule.
    • Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

  • If you stop using sodium cromoglicate
    • Even if your symptoms improve, you should continue using this medicine because you will still be surrounded by things you are allergic to. Sodium cromoglicate can prevent you from having an allergic reaction. If you stop using it, your allergy symptoms may return.
