Atrauman® Ag – Silver-containing ointment compresses
Atrauman® Ag is thin, soft, cuttable, and drapeable. Atrauman® Ag ensures close contact with the entire wound surface. Atrauman® Ag does not stick to the wound, thus enabling painless dressing changes.
Characteristics:
Atrauman Ag is a non-adherent wound contact layer suitable for the treatment of chronic wounds such as leg ulcers, diabetic leg ulcers, and pressure ulcers. The product is also used to treat acute burns up to the second degree. Atrauman Ag is suitable for application to human skin by qualified healthcare professionals. The backing material consists of polyamide fibers coated with elemental silver. The triglyceride-based (neutral lipid) impregnation is drug-free. The impregnation contains (INCI names): caprylic/capric/myristic/stearic triglycerides, bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2, and macrogol 2000. The soft, thin backing material is easily drapeable and ensures close contact with the wound bed. The surface of the material and the impregnation prevent adhesion to the wound, allowing for atraumatic dressing changes. Atrauman Ag is a silver-containing wound dressing. The impregnation protects the wound edges and prevents maceration. It is free of active ingredients and contains no paraffin.
Areas of application:
Atrauman Ag is a non-adhesive, silver-containing wound contact layer for atraumatic wound care. Remove Atrauman Ag from the peel pack, leaving the backing paper intact. If necessary, cut to the size of the wound, maintaining sterility. Atrauman Ag should overlap the wound and be approximately the same size as the secondary dressing. Remove the backing paper from one side. Either place the exposed side onto the wound and then peel off the remaining backing paper, or, using sterile forceps or sterile gloves, remove Atrauman Ag from the second backing paper and apply it to the wound. Atrauman Ag should be applied in a single layer; do not fold or apply in multiple layers. Secure a suitable sterile secondary dressing (absorbent or superabsorbent dressings, foam dressings, or compresses such as Zetuvit Plus) over Atrauman Ag according to the appropriate instructions for use to absorb wound exudate. Alternatively, the Vivano negative pressure wound therapy system can be used. Especially with deep wounds, it is essential to ensure that Atrauman Ag has direct contact with the absorbent dressing and that there are no folds that could impede exudate drainage. For thick exudate, it is recommended to cut Atrauman Ag with sterile scissors to prevent exudate accumulation. Before combining it with the Vivano negative pressure wound therapy system, the corresponding instructions for use must be followed. The dressing remains effective for up to seven days. Unless otherwise prescribed by a physician or medically indicated, a new Atrauman Ag dressing should be applied with each dressing change. The same dressing should not remain in place for more than seven days.
