Aquacel Extra Wound DressingIt is nine times stronger and has 39% greater absorbency as compared to the original Aquacel wound dressing. Aquacel Extra Hydrofiber dressing is specifically suited to help manage moderate to highly exuding wounds and is cleared for the same indications as the original Aquacel dressing.

Aquacel Extra

Aquacel Extra is a soft, sterile, non-woven wound dressing or tamponade made from sodium carboxymethylcellulose and regenerated cellulose fiber for reinforcement. This highly absorbent dressing absorbs wound exudate and forms a soft gel. The gel keeps the wound moist and creates an optimal wound healing environment. Aquacel supports the healing process and facilitates the removal of dead tissue from the wound (autolytic debridement) without damaging the newly formed tissue.

Indications:
Aquacel Extra is suitable for the treatment of acute and chronic moderately to heavily exuding wounds:

• Leg ulcers, pressure ulcers (grade II-IV) and diabetic ulcers.
• Surgical wounds (e.g. postoperative wounds with secondary healing and split skin graft sites).
• Second degree burns.
• Traumatic wounds (e.g. lacerations, abrasions and cuts).
• Exudate uptake in oncological wounds (ulcerating skin tumors, skin metastases and Kaposi's sarcoma).

Exudate amount:
Moderate to high.
