- The medicinal product Viruzine Forte syrup contains inosine pranobex. It is an antiviral drug and increases the body's immunity. The indications for the use of the drug include the treatment of cold sores on the lips and face caused by the herpes simplex virus.
Composition of Viruzine Forte syrup:
Active substance inosine pranobex (Inosinum pranobexum) (a complex containing inosine and 2-hydroxypropyldimethylammonium 4-acetamidobenzoate in a molar ratio of 1:3). 1ml of syrup contains 100mg of inosine pranobex. 5ml of syrup contains 500mg of inosine pranobex and excipients: sucrose, citric acid monohydrate, sodium hydroxide, propylene glycol (E 1520), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216), raspberry flavour (including propylene glycol), banana flavour (including ethanol, propylene glycol), purified water.
Action Viruzine Forte syrup:
Antiviral drug with inosine pranobex, an active substance that inhibits the in vitro multiplication of pathogenic viruses from the Herpes group. The medicinal product Viruzine Forte syrup also increases the body's immunity - stimulates the immune system. The drug is indicated for supportive use in the case of people with reduced immunity with recurrent upper respiratory tract infections, as well as in the treatment of cold sores of the lips and facial skin caused by the herpes simplex virus.
Application:
Viruzine Forte syrup is indicated for supportive use in immunocompromised individuals in the case of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections, and also in the treatment of cold sores of the lips and facial skin caused by the herpes simplex virus. The drug can only be used in individuals who have been previously diagnosed with a herpes simplex virus infection.
Additional information:
Store the product out of reach of children, at room temperature. It is recommended to protect from moisture and light. After opening, use within 9 months. Before using the medicine, talk to your doctor or pharmacist in the following situations: you have had gout attacks or increased uric acid levels in the past - the medicine may cause a temporary increase in uric acid levels in the serum and urine; you have had kidney stones in the past; you have kidney problems; the treatment is long-term (3 months or longer) - your doctor will recommend regular blood tests and will monitor your kidney and liver function. Kidney stones may form during long-term treatment; symptoms of an allergic reaction have been observed (rash, itching, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue). Use with other medicines: you should consult your doctor if you are using other medicines, especially allopurinol or other medicines used to treat gout; medicines that increase the excretion of uric acid, including diuretics, e.g. furosemide, torasemide, ethacrynic acid, hydrochlorothiazide, chlorthalidone, indapamide; medicines that affect the immune system, e.g. used after organ transplantation; azidothymidine used to treat AIDS. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding: consult your doctor, but it is not recommended to use this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless your doctor considers that the benefits of using this medicine outweigh the possible risks. The medicine contains propylene glycol (E 1520) - 474mg of propylene glycol in 5ml of syrup. Before giving the medicine to children under 5 years of age, talk to your doctor or pharmacist, especially if the child is taking other medicines containing propylene glycol or alcohol. Use in people with liver or kidney problems: do not use without consulting your doctor. The medicine contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216) - the medicine may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed reactions). The medicine contains sucrose - 5 ml of the medicine contains 2.80 g of sucrose, which should be taken into account in people with diabetes, people with intolerance to some sugars should consult a doctor before using the medicine. The medicine contains sodium - less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium in 5 ml of syrup, it is considered "sodium-free".
Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the drug. Do not use in case of a current attack of gout (severe joint pain with swelling and redness of the skin, effusion occurs in the large joints) and in a situation when tests have shown an increased concentration of uric acid in the blood.
Side effects:
Some people may experience side effects. Any medicine can cause an allergic reaction, but serious allergic reactions to this medicine are very rare. You should consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms: sudden wheezing, difficulty breathing, swelling of the eyelids, face or lips, rash or itching (especially if they affect your whole body). Other side effects: very common – increased uric acid levels in the blood, increased uric acid levels in the urine; common – increased liver enzymes, increased urea levels in the blood, rash, itching, joint pain, vomiting, nausea, abdominal discomfort, fatigue (weariness), weakness (malaise), headache, dizziness; uncommon – diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness or difficulty sleeping (insomnia), nervousness, increased urine volume (polyuria). frequency unknown – upper abdominal pain, swelling of the face, lips, eyelids or throat (angioedema), hives, allergic reaction, sudden allergic reaction affecting the whole body (anaphylactic reaction), redness of the skin (erythema).
Viruzine Forte syrup dosage:
Use as directed by your doctor or according to the directions on the leaflet. Adults, elderly people (over 65 years of age): the recommended dose is 50mg per kg of body weight per day (0.5ml per kg of body weight per day), usually 10ml of syrup 3-4 times a day. The maximum daily dose is 4g of inosine pranobex (i.e. 40ml of syrup). Children over 1 year of age: the recommended dose is 50mg per kg of body weight per day (0.5ml per kg of body weight per day). Use the medicine 3 times a day according to the scheme: child weighing: 10-14kg – 3 x 2.5ml; child weighing 15-20kg – 3 x 2.5-3.5ml; child weighing 21-30kg – 3 x 3.5-5ml; child weighing 31-40kg – 3 x 5-7.5ml; adolescents weighing 41-50kg – 3 x 7.5-9ml. Measure the syrup using the measuring cup included in the package. Duration of treatment: treatment usually lasts 5-14 days, after the symptoms have subsided, treatment should be continued for 1-2 days. If after 5-14 days the symptoms do not subside or get worse, consult a doctor.
