High Exudate Absorption:
In vitro studies and clinical experience demonstrate that Allevyn wound dressings can remain in place for up to seven days as wound healing progresses. This performance is based on the combination of the following properties:

• The perforated wound contact layer also allows the absorption of viscous exudate into the dressing.
• The hydrocellular core of the dressing absorbs and retains fluids in its microstructure.
• The breathable outer surface of the bandage allows excess water vapor to pass through to the outside.

Indications:
The Allevyn Heel wound dressing is ideal for use on granulating wounds of the heel or corresponding anatomical contours. It can be used on necrotic or fibrinous wounds in conjunction with the IntraSite Gel hydrogel wound dressing.

Contraindications/Limitations of Use:
Allevyn wound dressings must not be used in conjunction with oxidizing substances such as hypochlorite solutions (e.g., Eusol) or hydrogen peroxide, as these can destroy the absorbent polyurethane component of the wound dressings. Rare cases of reddening of the wound edges have been published after the application of Allevyn wound dressings. In some cases, this is related to irritation of sensitive skin. In other cases, wound exudate remaining in prolonged contact with the skin at the wound edges may be the cause. Rare cases of hypersensitivity to the dressing have also been published. If redness or sensitization of the skin occurs, discontinue use and consult medical personnel.

Instructions for use:
Step 1:
Apply the white, patterned side to the heel.

Step 2:
Secure with a light bandage.

Step 3:
In the early stages of treatment, Allevyn Heel dressings should be checked frequently. The dressings can remain in place until exudate is visible and approaches the edge of the dressing. The outer film prevents fluid leakage and helps prevent bacterial contamination of the wound.
