ACTISORB® Silver 220 is suitable as the first therapeutic step in the management of all chronic wounds1 with all levels of exudate. It is indicated for fungating carcinomas, ulcerative, traumatic and surgical wounds where bacterial contamination, infection or odour occurs1.

This dressing is an activated charcoal dressing with silver encased in a non-adherent nylon shell that not only eliminates odors but, thanks to the activated charcoal, also binds bacteria and bacterial toxins within the dressing. The Actisorb Silver 220 dressing is effective in vitro against 150 microorganisms associated with wound infections, including MRSA and VRE, demonstrating that the dressing has effective antimicrobial activity without damaging host cells or preventing fibroblast proliferation. The Actisorb Silver 220 dressing eliminates unpleasant odors, thus improving patient comfort. Since unpleasant odors can accompany wound exudate, the Actisorb Silver 220 dressing also eliminates exudate and helps maintain a moist wound environment.

Indications:
Indicated for the treatment of bacterial contamination, infection, and odor in a wide variety of wounds, including:

• decubitus
• Ulcers of various etiologies
• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Breakthrough carcinomas
• Traumatic and surgical wounds where bacterial contamination, infection, or odor is present.
